New baby

Why a personalised book is a lovely new baby gift

In short: a new baby book at Sagalino is written from your description, with the baby as the hero, over 14 double pages. No photo is needed, and you read the whole story for free before you pay. The eBook (£4.50) is ready about half an hour after you buy, so it can go in the card; the hardcover is £37.90 plus £5.90 delivery to the United Kingdom.

A new baby book is received twice. Once at the first visit, when the parents see their child's name on the cover. And again a few years later, when the child understands that the story is about them, and was written the year they were born.

No photo is needed. If you'd rather not send a photo of the newborn, the name and a few details are enough: the little hero is drawn from a description, as in a picture book.

The book can make room for the family too: the big brother or sister welcoming the baby, the grandparents, the cat. Up to 5 characters can appear in the same story. For the older child, see our page on big brother and big sister gifts.

Next to the practical things, a book with the baby's name is one of the few presents that will never be too small.

You read the whole story for free before you decide. The eBook is ready about half an hour after you buy; the hardcover, 21.6 × 28 cm, is printed as soon as you approve the finished book. The hardcover is delivered to 214 countries and territories, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and Canada; in Europe and North America it arrives in up to 13 working days after you approve the finished book.

For the grandparents, there is a page on the new grandparent gift.

Three story ideas

  • The story of the day the child arrived, told by everyone who was waiting: the parents, the grandparents, the big brother.
  • A little companion, a cuddly toy or an animal, there from the first day, who goes with the child through their first year: the first smile, the first outing, the first steps.
  • A story about the name itself: where it comes from, what it means and who chose it.

Questions

Good to know

Isn't a book too early for a newborn?

At first it's a keepsake and a reading ritual for the parents, then the book in which the child recognises their own name for the first time. It's reread over the years, like a photo album in the form of a story.

Do we need a photo of the baby?

No. The name and a few details are enough; the hero is drawn from a description, as a baby or a toddler. You can add a photo if you like, but it's never required.

Can the big brother or sister be in the story?

Yes. Up to 5 characters can appear in the same story, for example the baby and the older child who shows them the world. The book then becomes a present for the big brother or sister too.

How long does it take?
