Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers

What we're asked most often, from the free preview to delivery of the hardcover. Every step is also described in detail on the page How it works, and the prices on the page Prices and delivery.

Before you buy

The preview and creating the book

What can I see before I buy?

The whole story to read, across all 14 double pages, the portrait of your character, the first scenes and the finished cover, all for free. You only pay for the remaining pictures, and only if you love the story.

Does the preview commit me to anything?

No. Creating the book and the preview are free and without obligation. You only pay when you order the eBook or the hardcover, and only if you love the story.

What happens if I don't like the story?

You pay nothing. Before you buy, you can edit the text, ask for a different wording or start again with another idea or another style.

How long does it take?

About 6 to 8 minutes until the free preview with the story, the hero and the cover. After you buy, you confirm your characters once, then we paint all the pictures, usually in about half an hour. You can watch the book fill up page by page, and we'll email you as soon as it's ready.

What age are the books for?

For children who are read to as well as for those who read on their own. The first question when you create a book is the age of the child it will be read to, and the language and length of the story adapt to it. The hero can be any age at all: a baby, a grandparent or a teddy.

Characters and photos

Who is in the story

Do I need a photo?

No. A short description (hair, eyes, favourite outfit) is enough for a lovely hero. If you like, you can add photos, for one character or several, so they look more like the people they're based on. A photo is never required.

Can several children be the heroes of the same book?

Yes. Up to 3 main characters share the adventure, siblings for example, and 2 supporting characters can join them, so 5 characters at most.

Does my character look the same on every page?

Yes, that's our most important promise on quality. Every character gets a precise sheet before the first picture, and all 14 double pages are painted from it: the hero as well as the supporting characters, the dog, the best friend, the grandparents.

The book

Pages, styles and changes

How many pages does the book have, and what size is it?

14 illustrated double pages, so 28 pages. The hardcover is a hardback in 21.6 × 28 cm; the eBook has the same pages, to read on screen and download as a PDF.

Which illustration styles can I choose?

21 styles, from watercolour to ligne claire, including coloured pencil, gouache and silhouettes. If the style you want isn't there, describe it in your own words while you create the book.

Can the style change from page to page?

No, the style you choose is kept on every page of the book, just like each character's face and outfit. If you're unsure, you can compare the styles before you start.

Can I change the texts and pictures?

Yes. Before you buy, you can already edit the texts or ask for a different wording, shorter or funnier, for example. In the finished eBook you can rewrite pages and have pictures repainted. The finished book downloads as a PDF.

Can I create more than one book?

Yes, as many as you like, for the same child or for others. Every book starts with its own free preview.

Who writes the story and who draws the pictures?

The story and the pictures are created with generative artificial intelligence models, from what you describe; we say so in our privacy policy too. A sheet for every character, a page-by-page plan and a painted surface for the text make the book read like a picture book, with the same hero from start to finish.
